• What is Surfing Favela?

Surfing Favela is a documentary made by Crowder-Ruggiero-Bacalini-Ezzaoui 

• Ok….wow…why so many names?

Surfing Favela is a collaborative work. The film was written and produced by Maria Laura Ruggiero and Tomás Crowder. The direction and photography was in charge of Natalia Bacalini and Maxi Ezzaoui.

• Who paid for this film?

Surfing Favela was financed by Fuel Tv. The project was one of the ten Finalists of a contest called The Fuel Experiment, sponsored by Fuel Tv and that’s how we got the money to make it.

• Are you guys Brazilians?

No, we’re not. We are a group of Argentinians sponsored by Americans to make a film in Brazil. Yes, an exception to the rule.

• In which Favelas did you shoot?

We shot our movie in Rocinha and Cantagalo, two Favelas or Slums of Rio de Janeiro.

• Did you live there? For how long?

The whole shooting process took around a month and a half. We didn’t live inside the Favelas but we spent around 10 hours every day living and working there.

• Where can I see Surfing Favela? Can I buy a dvd?
